Covington – Funeral services for Robert S. Darnell were held at the Gospel Tabernacle at 1:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Fred L. Deckard officiating. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery, West Lafayette with Frank Shelby funeral director in charge. Mr. Darnell died Wednesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nellie Cotton in this city. He was born July 9, 1876 in Kentucky, a son of James and Mary Smith Darnell. His wife, Sarah E. died in 1927. Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. Elsie Munger; Mrs. Doris Proost and Mrs. Lillian Singleton of San Diego, Calif; Mrs. Rachel England of 111 Stroup Street, Danville and Mrs. Nellie Cotton in Covington. A son, Robert Darnell, lives at 6 Indiana Ave, Danville.  Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
